July Wish List - & I am back!

Hey guys! I would like to first apologise as I had to take a little break from the blogging world to concentrate on my A-Levels. Although I haven't been at college for about a month now, I wasn't really sure whether to get back on the bandwagon again. But as always I could not resist, so here is my first post back, my July Wish List! Enjoy :)

1. Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation - I have heard of this product a number of times through the worlds of both YouTube and blogging, and it is one of those products that I would just really like to try! I have heard only good things about this product, and I have also picked up on the fact that it smells rather delicious too! bonus! :)

2. Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub - One of the things I have a problem with is dry lips, not only in the winter but also throughout the summer. I feel it is probably due to lack of nutrients from my very picky diet and past experiences. I am currently working on this to benefit my over all body health, although I feel as though my lips could do with a little extra help. I also find that when applying lipstick after a few hours it can look very horrid looking as my lips begin to dry again and leave me with peeling lips (which of course looks very attractive!) so I thought this would be a good way to get rid of that before applying my lipsticks! :)

3. BarryM Gelly Nail Polish - My nails are also very dry, so normal nail polish never seems to last a few days even with a top coat. I have been told that these polishes are very long lasting and I feel intrigued to try something different like a gel. They also come in lovely summery colours too!

4. Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - I have heard this product being raved and raved about all over YouTube over the past few months. I am trying to cut back my foundation and use as little as possible, but I find this is hard to achieve using your fingers. I have tried ordinary foundation brushes although I feel they are very hard to create an even coverage. I really cannot wait to buy this product as I am always looking for new ways to make my skin look better! :)

5. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro - Now this isn't fashion or beauty related, but I feel like I had to include it. I am recently getting more and more into my films and the other day I watched the film version of this book. For me personally I am more into my romantic drama films and I really dislike fantasy films or anything that couldn't be related to real life. I came across this after looking for some films to watch, and although not my usual genre (described as a British dystopian science fiction drama) it did still have a romantic and old fashion element to it and the story line did fascinate me. I really liked the film and I found it very touching. Andrew Garfield believes the story of Never Let Me Go is about humans, and exploring "what it is to have a soul, and how you prove what a soul is"  He adds that its message could hopefully remind people that they have a choice when they arise in the morning whether to pursue their own choice of activities for the day, or to do what they should do or are obliged to do. Although I have heard mixed reviews on the book version, I am still very intrigued to give it a read.

Thank-you for reading guys! :)

Spring/Summer WishList!

Firstly, I would just like to say that I have now completed my a-level exams! *crys of happiness* well.. untill next year anyway. This now means that I have a lot of spare time on my little hands, which means one thing, more blog posts! :D

These items are all from Topshop. I spotted them on their website whilst having a little browse and as soon as I have some pennies saved I shall be purchasing these! :)

1) Petite Speckle Tee Dress - I have been wanting a dress like this for a while now. I love how casual it is enabling you to wear it for every day. You could layer it up for winter with some woollen tights, boots, jumper and maybe a jacket, or dress it down for summer with some little brogue shoes. I am usually not one for dresses, especially mid-length as I feel it does not suit my body shape atall, although I would order the item in Petite as although a 5ft 3 I feel that would be the right length to suit my body shape.

2) Petite Skater Skirt - Again, I have been wanting one of these pieces for a long time! I love how versatile it is and yet again you could easily wear it in the winter or summer. Also you could dress it up or dress it down depending on the occasion. I love the colour aswell as I feel that this light shade of denim is suited to spring/summer.

3) Metal Aviator Sunglasses - The sunglasses that I have been styling for the last few years have finally had enough and given up on me *sigh* I haven't intentionally looked for a new pair yet but these rather pretty beasties decided to show in the 'other products you may like' section and of course, I love them! You can get them in different frame styles and colours, along with the lenses, although these are my favourite!

Thank-you for reading! :)

Fashion TAG!

1.What's your favourite fashion accessory?
My favourite fashion accessory would have to be a good pair of sun glasses!

2.Who's your fashion role model?
Mary-Kate and Ashley Oslen. I love their style and I'm always taking inspiration from them. Also their anorexia battle is so inspiring!

3.What do you always carry with you?
My I-phone, I'm never seen without it!

4.How would you describe your style?
Lets put it this way, my friends would be very surprised if I ever turned up wearing something casual. I'm considered 'the posh one' because of the way I apparently dress which makes me laugh as I'm nothing but posh haha! I really like experimenting with vintage key pieces. Maybe that's what makes my style seem posh to some? haha..

5.What's your favourite?  Jeans, sunglasses or heels?
Oh gosh I love all three! But as I have already mentioned sunglasses I'll go with heels! I love wearing a nice pair of heels when going out, it just adds a nice finishing touch to an outfit and can define an outfit from causal to going out.

6.What inspired you to blog about fashion?
I have been following quite a few well known bloggers/youtubers for quite some time now. I had always been inspired by them to start a blog, but I never really had the time or confidence before.

7.What is your favourite fashion store?
I tend to shop in a variety of stores. I sometimes shop in your classics such as Top Shop and River Island. Sometimes I do find these shops a tad too expensive so I'll only buy things from there if I know I'm defiantly going to make good use of it. I also like shopping in little one off vintage shops in the village closest to me. They're great to find one off classic pieces, also charity shops are great for this too!

8.Would you choose to buy something high quality or make it yourself if you could?
I would love to make things myself! I used to love textiles when I was at school and I kind of wish I carried it on at A-level. Although I can't really draw to save my life so I let myself down on that side of things! haha..

I tagg anyone who reads this (that's if anyone does!) haha!

thank-you for reading :)

DIY Ombre!

A few months ago I decided to ombre my hair blonde. I have dyed my hair numerous of times mainly to blonde, which many times has turned orange after a few washes. About a year ago I dyed my hair back to my natural colour, dark brown, but this also began to fade into a brassy green tone. I tried a few more times and eventually it was pretty near as it was ever going to be to my natural colour. It blended in to my roots really well and you could hardly notice the regrowth. Although I was really happy I was able to get my natural colour back, I get bored of my hair quite easily and wanted a change. I decided to ombre it as this wouldn't ruin the regrowth so my hair was still able to grow out. I used the L'ORÉAL PARIS Wild Ombre for dark blonde to medium brown hair. I did this myself and although a little wary, I was presently surprised with the results. To be fair I was expecting the colour to come out quite brassy, but it came out a lovely light blonde! It was also very gradual which is something that I wanted, as I've seen many people with it going straight from the brown to the blonde and to be honest I wanted more of a natural look!
This picture was taken quite recently so it has been a while since I had it done and it has grown out a tad, but still the colour hasn't turned brassy. To be fair I think one of the main reasons for this is that I invested in a purple shampoo. I had never really heard of these before but after watching a video of Zoella's she inspired me to try them. I use the Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Shampoo and conditioner which she suggested. This stuff works wonders and it really is a must have buy if you are thinking of dying your hair any type of blonde at all. It makes the blonde look so natural and light and eliminates any brassy tones.
So to sum it all up, DIY ombre is nothing to be scared off! It's one the the easiest things you could do with dye. I heard someone say that she got hers done at the hair dressers as she wanted it to be natural and gradual, also the hair dresser told her not to go near DIY ombre kits as he said they look 'awful'. But to be fair, most DIY ombres I've seen look better than the salon ones!
If you would like some advice on how to achieve the ombre look just feel free to comment :)

My Wardrobe Staples!

Here are a few of my wardrobe staples :) my all time favourite casual outfit would have to be a nice, baggy jumper, shorts, brown or black tights, and a pair of ankle boots. I find it so comfortable, especially for college. You are able to mix it up and adjust it for the different seasons. It is a very versatile look. Here are the key pieces I would choose to create the look through spring or those sunny but cold winter days.

Here is my first key piece. This is one of my favourite buys, snapped up at a charity shop. It's a baggy knitted cardigan which looks great with this look. I would normally wear just a plain band tee with this or a plain lace top.
If its a little bit colder, then I will use a jumper as an alternative. This is one of my many jumpers but is most probably one of my favourites as it is so versatile and snuggley! I would normally wear a collared shirt underneath this to complete the outfit.
The next key piece to this outfit is a pair of shorts. The pair above are a recent buy from New Look which I absolutely adore! These are also very versatile, looking great with the plain jumper above or a more patterned knit.

This is another pair of shorts I have which would look great with the plain cream jumper featured.
In the winter/spring I tend to go for a black, brown or navy pair of tights. The ones featured are patterned which I feel can look great with this outfit and make it a touch more interesting.
My last staple piece to this outfit are my trusty brown ankle boots! I have worn the life out of these, they're just so comfortable and look great! I really like the buckle on the side, which finishes them off nicely and allows them more detail. This is such a versatile outfit which is both practicable and looks good, also a nice look for the transition into spring :)

April Beauty Favourites!

Here is a little selection of some products I have been loving quite a bit last month :)

My first favourite from April would have to be the Sanctuary Spa Illuminating Moisture Lotion with SPF 15. Its said to have 24 hours of hydrating protection for lasting radiance. I would say my skin is combination, the centre of my face can be oily one day and ridiculously dry the next, making my foundation look lovely of course! *prays for perfect skin* Also, trying new products on my face can be a bit of a gamble as some products can break me out very easily. This however manages to find the perfect balance for me, leaving my skin nicely moisturised and the dry patches unseen, but also not going to the extreme and leading to excessive oiliness. It feels great on my skin too! :)

Another favourite of mine from April is a Number 7 lipstick in the shade Classic Rose. I normally tend to go quite safe with my lip colour, either sticking to natural shades, or if I'm feeling brave going for a deep red but still toning it down with a natural shade on top. I received this free with a Number 7 voucher and at first the bright pink left me a little shocked. Although, once applied  the pink turned to a more subtle  peachy tone, but still with a bit of 'pop'. Although out of my comfort zone, I didn't feel it looked too bad! Also a nice bright colour for spring/summer :)

The weather in England has finally chosen to teleport into summer! *wayhey* Unfortunately  it was rather sudden, leaving me having to expose some pale skin. I am not normally one to go 'all fake tan' and in fact  I actually quite like pale skin. Although I felt as it was getting warmer, I wanted a natural brown glow without the full orange affect. The Garnier Summer Body Moisturising Lotion does just that! Previously I had used another brand similar to this, which left me with yellow skin and a hideous after smell! So I was a bit wary to get into the tanning wagon again, but this product is exceptionally good! It apply's well, I have yet to spot a patch.. It smells lovely too! Its left me with a lovely brown glow which I can add to in order to build up the colour if desired. I am extremely happy with this product, especially after the last one haha! :)
